Background
The Omicron Sigma Lambda (OSL) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. established the First Of All Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3, in 2005 to assist deserving young men in their pursuit of higher education and to provide leadership opportunities for individuals throughout Rutherford County, TN. Through our efforts and involvement in the community we have made great strides in helping others receive the necessary tools to be productive members of society.
About Our Chairman
Mario LaGrone, MBA/JD serves as President and champions a donor partnership model rooted in accountability and measurable outcomes. He brings rigor to board governance, planning, and communications—ensuring donor intentions are honored and translated into student‑centered support. Mario’s stewardship priorities include transparent updates to supporters, timely acknowledgments, and meaningful engagement opportunities that connect gifts to real progress in students’ lives.
Committed to inclusive leadership, Mario collaborates closely with educators, families, and community partners throughout Rutherford County so that resources align with practical needs—application guidance, financial planning, and mentoring—making the path to college more navigable. His focus is simple: pair encouragement with clear information and responsive support, and students will see college as a plan rather than a dream.
Education: J.D., Birmingham School of Law; MBA, University of Arizona; B.S., Middle Tennessee State University.
Personal: Nashville‑based and active in Rutherford County schools and community initiatives, Mario regularly attends college‑readiness events and celebrates milestones alongside scholars and their families. He values listening to students and supporters alike, building relationships that strengthen impact.
